IECO Newsletter May 2022

Dear researchers, supporters and friends of the IECO Network,

A few weeks ago, 9 lecturers and 23 students from both Germany and Chile travelled back home with a rich “package” of ideas and perspectives developed on industrial and urban sustainability, practical experience gathered during workshops and field trips, and of course new networks and friends: The IECO Summer School in Valdivia left a lasting impression on everyone, so we decided to dedicate this newsletter edition entirely to this event.

Our gratitude goes to the host, Universidad Austral de Chile, the KIT International Office, and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) who made this event possible financially, administratively, and organizationally. Many thanks to our strategic partners, the German Embassy in Chile, DFG, DAAD Chile, AHK, and the Alumni Club Chile for providing an important contribution during the evening program. And of course, thank you to the IECO researchers who put a lot of effort into developing a highly ambitious scientific program in order to train 23 eager students, who should also be highlighted for the enthusiasm they showed during the entire week.

We all agreed that this was a great format for joint teaching and hope to have further summer schools in the future.

 The IECO Coordination team
